The landmarks of this district are the mansion of former “Werkshotel Donawitz” and the Donawitz parish church which also pays tribute to steel production. There are many residential buildings in Donawitz that tell the story of the success of the iron and steel industry. In the “Im Tal” settlement and towards “Auf der Niederung” there are many detached houses in the countryside.

Donawitz is also an innovative centre of training and education. In 2016, a historic school building was converted into the modern Pestalozzi Education Centre with combined primary, secondary and pre-vocational schools. The Upper Secondary School for Commercial Professions is next door.
