Rest periods
As a means of guaranteeing good relations amongst its residents, the City of Leoben has established rest periods. During these periods, no one may engage in any noisy activities in gardens, other open air spaces or in buildings.
Rest periods in Leoben
- daily from 12:00 to 13:00
- daily from 19:00 to 07:00
- all-day on Sundays and public holidays
The following activities are not allowed during rest periods, for instance:
- lawn mowing
- working with chainsaws
- drilling
Public interest:
Activities for the public benefit, such as snow clearance, street cleaning, waste removal, green area maintenance or similar activities are not subject to the rest periods.
Penal notice
Breaches of the Regulation on Noise Protection, such as noisy gardening work and mowing the lawn during rest periods, are subject to a fine (in German) of EUR 20. Violations may, however, also be reported to the District Authority, in which case the fine can be as high as EUR 1,500.
Noise in public spaces
You may not generate unreasonable noise with musical instruments, radios or similar appliances in spaces used for rest and relaxation or intended for the use of the general public.
Such spaces are, for instance:
- public swimming pools
- public green areas
- forests
- hiking trails
