Primary School Registration

Overview
- There is one fixed date every year for registration for the municipal primary schools in Leoben.
- Registration during the course of a school year: Late registration for primary school is also possible if your family moves to Leoben after the registration deadline. Please contact the Education department (in German) of the City of Leoben at +43 3842 4062-358 or schulen@leoben.at
Registration process
- The administrative registration for the school year 2026/2027 will take place from 1 until 30 November 2025.
- The pedagogical registration will then take place in the local schools. You will receive the date for this separately by letter.
- For further information, please contact the Education department (in German) of the City of Leoben.
The legal guardians of children who are due to start school will receive a letter containing a link to the online registration form. If needed, the forms can be downloaded, printed, and returned to the City of Leoben.

Documents you will need
Please bring the following documents to the pedagogical registration appointment. You will receive the date for this separately by letter.
Documents of the child you wish to register
- Birth certificate
- Certificate of citizenship
- Residence registration certificate (Meldezettel)
- e-Card
- if available: certificate of religious confession (e.g., baptism certificate)
- if available: medical findings and notifications (copy)
