In cooperation with Leoben's alpine and embellishment association, 41 km of hiking routes have been cleared and are constantly maintained.

The hiking routes in and around Leoben invite the whole family to enjoy the beautiful landscape. In the traffic office hiking maps are offered free of charge.

Due to well trimmed parks, Leoben has the reputation as a "city of flowers.

Leoben is located at the "cycle-route R2", which is known as the "Tour de Mur".

The cycle tracks inside the city are fully developed. In 1991 Leoben was awarded as the most friendly cycling community.

The leisure infrastructure at Tivoli (soccer, athletics, trendy sports), offers ideal opportunities to recreational sports as well as to athletes.

The "Stadionbad" swimming facility, located on the Murinsel in the Au with its 80 m water chute and Agora playground, is one of the most beautiful swimming facilities in Styria.

According to the assessment-system of the swimming pool hygienic law, this swimming pool grades as "faultless".

The swimming pool in Donawitz is an idyllically situated open-air bath and suitable particularly for families.

The artificial ice rink in the Au is open for all ice-skate-freaks from the end of October until the beginning of March, daily, except Monday,  Wednesday,  Friday from 14.00 to 16.45; Saturday and Sunday from 13.00 to 15.45.

There 's a special opening party and ice disco for young visitors, as well as a carnival for children.

Leoben offers a favourable starting position to the skiing area called Präbichl/Eisenerz with its best prepared ski-runs and cross-country ski courses.

Also, curling can be played at the Tivoli asphalt-course and at various associations.

In all sections of the city, our children have the possibility to frolic around the playgrounds.
